Definition
One of the twenty standard building blocks that chain together into peptides and proteins. A peptide's sequence — which amino acids, in which order — determines its shape and what it binds to. Changing a single amino acid can change how long a peptide survives in the blood, which is how semaglutide was engineered from the body's own GLP-1.
