LYO's four-step rating of the human evidence behind one claimed effect of one compound. A: several well-run randomised trials agree. B: human trials exist but are few, small or unpublished. C: a few small or poorly controlled human studies. D: animal, cell or anecdotal evidence only. The grade measures certainty, not size of effect, and never counts animal data above D.
