Primary endpoint

In one lineThe one result a trial is designed to test.

Definition

The single outcome a trial is designed and sized to answer, chosen before it starts. Secondary endpoints are extra measurements that may be real but were not what the trial was built to prove. A press release that leads with a secondary endpoint usually means the primary one disappointed.
