Growth hormone secretagogue

In one lineAnything that makes the pituitary release growth hormone.

Definition

A compound that stimulates the pituitary to release growth hormone. GHRH analogues (sermorelin, CJC-1295, tesamorelin) act on the GHRH receptor; ghrelin mimetics (ipamorelin, GHRP-2, GHRP-6, ibutamoren) act on the ghrelin receptor. Raising growth hormone in a blood test is easy to show; showing that it changes body composition or health in adults is not, and for most of these it has never been done.
